Ambulance driver Frank Pierce (Nicolas Cage) -- on the verge of a nervous breakdown -- stumbles through three sleepless nights on the job accompanied by a callous crew (John Goodman, Ving Rhames and Tom Sizemore). As Frank navigates through the dead and dying, he finds humanity in an unlikely friendship with a heart-attack victim's ex-junkie daughter (Patricia Arquette). The film, helmed by Martin Scorsese, is based on Joe Connelly's memoir.

A Bronx boy (Lillo Brancato) grows to adulthood worshipping disparate heroes: his hardworking father (Robert De Niro), who drives a city bus, and the neighborhood mob boss (Chazz Palminteri), who becomes a kind of surrogate dad. Adapted from Palminteri's funny and touching play, A Bronx Tale marks De Niro's directorial debut and is a great showcase for everyone involved.

When severely traumatized Capt. Sam Cahill (Golden Globe nominee Tobey Maguire) returns home alive from a military mission in Afghanistan after he was presumed dead, he learns that his brother, Tommy (Jake Gyllenhaal), has gotten dangerously close to his grieving wife, Grace (Natalie Portman), and his kids. Mare Winningham and Sam Shepard also star in this wartime drama about human frailty and battles fought on the home front. Jim Sheridan directs.
